Pros

Internal jobs are easy to apply for and I have received 4 promotions during my tenure. The move policy for Dell is great as you can move around every 1.5 years given the right openings. Working remotely for the last 5 years has been a dream. Many people question whether they could pull it off. I don't have those issues because I'm focused and I know how to do my job well. Being able to move around the country has changed the direction of my life! SecureWorks Managers will take on people who don't necessarily fit the job but can grow into it. There's a ton of opportunity if you can rise to meet the challenges. Certs, Training, SANS etc. Dell has invested in multiple SANS certs and tuition reimbursement for many years. The maximum just went up to $5,250 a year!

Cons

I've had 12 managers during my tenure. Many different personalities from counting my bathroom break time to never talking at all. In the SOC there's very little trust due to the junior nature of the staff. I can't say there are any systemic issues honestly it just depends who's managing you. They give a lot of Jr. Managers change so it's double-edged. You may not want to be managed by somebody less experienced. Glue People: I work around tons of people who do exactly what you tell them but nothing else - the company can't or won't let them go. I call them glue people because they tend to stick onto you and collect money as long as possible. Many of them are making 100k+ and do 1/3 of what some of the hard-working people in the SOC do. There are many people getting paid too much for what they put out. They have bad attitudes, defensive, and very egotistical. Mostly that's the 5+ year folks.

Mishandling Talent/Customers

Pros

Some of the BEST talent out there, hardworking, seasoned folks who are willing to help internally and externally. They are talented enough to keep small to large customers happy. Hands down the employees are the best in the business.

Cons

Going the way of Yahoo, circa 2013, bringing everyone back in house. If you are remote, you will no longer be eligible for promotions. Move to ATL at your cost and that can change. Qualified talent are overlooked for those who dine with managers, which leads to a poor management tree. They've also stopped listening to what customers want, so they are losing them and not gaining any new ones.

Pros

Surrounded by talented team members. Solid career path within the industry if you decide to leave the company. Company is financially backed by Dell Technologies. If you are part of the esoteric group making decision, you're all set.

Cons

Company has been resting in their laurel for the last 5-8 years, thus the Competition is closing in. Career path within the company is ill-defined to un-defined. Obscurity dealing with training, travel and bonus budgets. Huge cultural gap between what they preach and what they actually practice.
