Pros

The people I work with are fantastic. The office is quite nice. Benefits are good, matching employer pension contributions and good healthcare cover. As far as I can tell, employee monitoring is not used. There is a limited budget for your home workstation to be improved. Hybrid working is default for everyone, only potentially except for upper management.

Cons

My salary is now 10% under inflation. For a huge company such as Siemens, I still don't understand how that is possible. Social events basically don't exist. Our last Christmas lunch was cut from the budget and I don't remember the last event that was actually more than just my colleagues arranging it. Or Siemens hiring an ice cream van and calling that a social event. Hiring freeze has been going for at least 2 years now. Some teams are definitely vastly more understaffed than others. No salary transparency. Small for some, but still worth mentioning - any larger meetings are full of corporate language. Yes, expected, but certainly unnecessary in the 21st century especially when a large part of your team are non-native English speakers. Internal systems are a pain. Using the timesheets and holiday request sites is genuinely an awful experience. Promotions are done once a year with a limited amount of people per team. If you're meeting the requirements, but there's other people just marginally above you, you will remain with your current salary for at least another year just because your manager can't promote more people. Their actions do not follow their words - environment is not a priority as a lot of the main clients are huge known polluters. The atmosphere in my office is miserable now. I have even heard managers talk about how they don't care about the job anymore.

Pros

Like most places, there are great colleagues that work together to succeed. There are always new tools to try out and adopt.

Cons

Like most places, it depends on the specific department and not the overall org when it comes to success. But there were red flags that could not be ignored: - Lack of onboarding/relevant training - Lack of defined responsibility and roles - Lack of management support In my time there I witnessed full-time impactful employees let go and replaced with contractors. I also witnessed employees let go to hit what I would call "recession deadlines" - these were employees that had a history of solid annual reviews and positive feedback - The org flaunted testing/failing as a positive, but typically slapped down innovative ideas Overall, those that are "yes men" tend to succeed, which can be confusing for teams that, on the surface, are supposed to pride themselves on test and learn. At the end of the day they will make up problems associated with teams to weed them out and replace them. If you are looking for an org that pushes new learning and actually applying it, I would not recommend it. And the lack of management support is not ideal, as they simply repeat orders from others. These teams suffer the same fate as some others: they promote and hire managers based on individual contributions and bias, but not on the ability to actually manage people or teams.

Pros

Working here is better than having no job.

Cons

Low pay with long hours Clueless micromanagers who talk down to employees Needy coworkers who can't do their jobs and ask you if you "have a minute" every 2 minutes. Milford office has more dramatic gossip than a high school No career path. HR comes up with a new system every year but nothing changes. HR and managers lie/gaslight employees to take advantage of them
