Cons
Around the time I left, it was pretty clear they were trying to reel in their spending. Company parties went from glamorous and generous to resorting to being confined to the office basement. Promotions and raises were also on a halt. People got the sense of impeding doom about their position being threatened, and you can imagine how quick some of these people were to point fingers at others if it meant saving their own hides. If your manager ever tells you “you’re lucky to be here, you won’t get this opportunity anywhere else” run and don’t look back. This is the sort of crap that an abusive spouse tells you to prey on your self confidence in order for you to stay and put up with them. Fun fact number 1: there certainly are better opportunities out there than snap... the world and the professionals living in this world does not depend on a dying social media app and there are certainly plenty of opportunities that offer greater perks and benefits along with a healthy work and life balance AND with employers that are more than happy to tell you how valuable you are as part of their team, yes, even during covid. Fun fact number 2, there are former employees that bond over the stress and trauma that they endured while working at Snap. Not exactly a great look on the company reputation.
