Pros

you get a nice back pack at Onboarding

Cons

-they say they give you regional travel and then make you travel across country -the bonus for CRAs is impossible to get. Due to how they do business, it is hard for you to make 8 days on site unless they give you 6 protocols -travel time is not accounting in your metrics -the metrics for site assignment is arbitrary. There is no formal calculation based on the complexity of the protocol, travel, site enrollment and sites issues -many people are leaving, so the managers just keep giving you more sites but do not account for this in your metrics -no one seems to know the SOPs and company process. Some say it is due to the merger, but it is more the company culture to be lazy and uninformed. Due to this, you will be asked to complete tasks that are not yours ( ie CRA completing tasks that are to be completed by Site Start Up or the Project Managers or QA). -Global Lead CRAs are not knowledgeable on the protocol and not responsive. Therefore they do not support the staff and the studies are commonly mismanaged (I was on 5 projects for different Sponsors and not 1 was managed properly) -there is no training, most of it is self study and Medical monitors or GLCRAs are rarely available to answer questions -good luck with the onboarding process. "Onboarding Managers" are initially assigned, but since they don't work with the systems, they generally don't know how to get you access for the systems you need, so they are quite useless -although it is not said initially, you are expected to travel on weekends. You have to do everything to deliver the project. Since projects are mismanaged, travel requests are usually made last minute and you have to travel on weekends. They do not respect your personal life. -they are dishonest with Sponsors and do not inform or escalate issues concerns/issues when they should -you do not have a Line Manager. ClinOps Leads who manage projects are given a few people to manage. You do not get the support from them because their own project needs usually are a priority and some are not qualified nor interested in being managers

Pros

I give this company 2 stars because there are some good aspects. Some study teams (NOT all) do try to support the CRAs. The Project Directors/Managers/COLs for the most part try to protect their CRAs as much as possible. However, there's only so much they can do because their hands are tied by Line Managers and Resourcing. Most studies utilize user-friendly CTMS systems, which is a plus for doing reports and organize site visits, etc.

Cons

CRAs (especially in certain units) are stretched beyond their limits. More and more CRAs who were promised to only be assigned to 1-2 protocols are now assigned to 3-4 and in some cases more. CRAs are traveling country-wide more often as well, which is causing much stress. Line managers do try to help, however, Resourcing is calling the shots and continually turns down requests to relieve CRAs who are over-worked and burned out. CRAs are considered machines, not human beings. There is no work-life balance being a CRA with Syneos Health and it will only be getting much worse with the amount of work coming this and next year. A mass exodus of CRAs is right around the corner and they aren't hiring new CRAs fast enough to cover. Syneos used to be a great place to work with high morale where CRAs felt valued and were actually happy. This is not the case anymore. PTO seems to be harder to accumulate for some reason. Benefits are just okay.
