Pros

Great opportunity for entry-level sales reps to gain valuable sales experience. Additionally, seasoned reps can find a variety of opportunities to develop relationships with various pharma companies.

Cons

Well, it is contract and honestly for some people that is concerning. I have worked for Syneos about 6 years in two different stints on two different contracts. Both of the contracts lasted longer than expected(the first was only slated to last a year and the company hired 80% of the sales force to work directly for them). The second contract, i am still on. I am in the 5th year of what was supposed to be a 3 year contract. Pay may be less than expected and the benefits are not like a pharma company. Also, you have to consider that when a contract ends, you do have to work to get on the next one(networking and emailing former collegues etc.).

Pros

Salary was somewhat fair, however minimal bonuses / raises. Ultimately the toxic culture outweighs nearly every potential pro

Cons

- Poor people management and lack of accountability at the management level - Disrespectful communication from leadership, including being talked down to and undermined in front of others - Feedback culture feels punitive rather than constructive - Employees are not supported or treated with empathy during layoffs - HR processes are inconsistent and require excessive follow-up, essentially nonexistent

Pros

still having a job, co-workers, work-from-home

Cons

Come to work here and you'll spend all your time justifying every minute of your workday. You cannot brainstorm with others to improve outcomes for the client if you don't have a billable code to charge the discussion to. Which is probably fine honestly, because the corporate-think culture cannot tolerate new ideas anyway. The current CEO says absolutely nothing when he talks except platitudes about working hard, giving more and more and more and more each month, not settling for less (than you can give), being the best the company can be, etc. He doesn't spend any time getting to know employees or learning about actual problems and is protected from the harsh reality of working for Syneos by 62 layers of managers. He will continue in the same vein until he leaves for another CRO in a year or two; on to an even bigger paycheck. Employees are expected to work more for less, work late and come in early, and be better than their managers are. If you don't have a lifetime of experience working at Syneos, you will not promote, and if you are talented and smart you will be gaslit into thinking you are never going to be as good as the people that have worked at Syneos since birth.
