Pros
My co-workers and I were consistently asked to do more with less. The people I worked with from Engineering to Operations really strive to do what is best for the customers.
Cons
Middle management need to be coached on how to manage people not just the job. I have seen many ICs promoted to management WITHOUT having the skill set to manage people. Unfortunately the last few years I was with the company, my manager micromanaged as he struggled to see the bigger picture and did not know how to coach. Both senior managers on my team had been reported to HR for inappropriate behavior. As far as I knew, nothing was done to correct their behavior. If you look for another internal job you manager is automatically notified. This kept many of my team members and myself from looking at other jobs within the company as we knew our manager would not take it well. And we did not trust him to not sabotage our chances.
