Pros

-Lots of flexibility (which is rare for customer support) -Wonderful manager and coworkers that were always eager to help manage cases -Lots of new hire training and supplemental hiring -Perks like snacks, occasional catering, company parties were insane -

Cons

-Low pay. It's no secret Tableau underpays compared to other tech and software companies in the area. The snacks & perks are meant to distract you from lack of pay. -There were two women on my sub-team in the office the whole I was there -If you're in Support, get ready for server admins that are certain you are trying to sabotage them

Pros

-Amazing product - turned an entire industry on its head - Most of colleagues are happy and friendly, motivated, and driven (except management) -Tableau will look amazing on your resume. They have a great reputation. Everyone will want to hire you -Tableau's secret to their success is how they dogfood their own product. You'll get exposed to what truly world class analytics looks like, and be able to carry that with you to future jobs

Cons

-Pay - Deeper than just underpaying - since IPO they operate much like a large mega-vendor like Oracle or SAP or Microsoft. (Your ability to succeed is 50% politics, everyone wanting to make a claim on your deals/accounts, high pressure, no vacation, etc...) - but you get paid a startup wage. Pay for any given role is probably 50% of what you'd get at a large company. The question is why would you take small company pay for big company stress levels? First level management are good people - most of them are reps that have been promoted up and they know what the day to day is actually like. Director level and above are all about politics and burdensome process. It is about who you now here, not how well you perform.

Pros

People are attracted to and want to work at Tableau because of the people and rightfully so. The people are great and there is a huge investment in the new hires. Tableau seems to maintain collaboration successfully on a global scale. The health benefits are also great.

Cons

New management at all levels is causing the company to face some setbacks as they transition into the new phase of Tableau. They pay significantly lower than other tech companies in Seattle... its no secret. Tableau seems to generate a lot of great talent, but keeping that talent is a struggle they are currently facing.
