Pros

This company has some amazing people, though they are leaving very quickly. As ALTANA / Nycomed, it was at one time the premier company in Canada; Amazing culture, super successful brands, strong leadership with an open door policy. The company has never paid well (we aim for 50th percentile), but people stayed for years and it has enjoyed one of the lowest voluntary departure rates in the industry despite that.

Cons

The company recently took out numerous leaders including the previous CEO who was a proven leader with a long history of strong success. New CEO C. Paul is an unbelievable narcissist. He has minimal people skills and has never even made an attempt to meet his employees in the office. He has fired the few great people that remained in the last month. It's amazing this guy has been given a role so clearly not within his skill-set. I am looking for another job pronto. All my coworkers are dying to get out of here too.

Pros

Good benefits with industry competitive salary.

Cons

I was employed at Millennium Pharmaceuticals for 4 years prior to the Takeda buy-out. Millennium was a happy, friendly, almost family-like environment...Takeda is the total opposite. The company is disinterested in their employees' needs & interests, especially the newly acquired Millennium employees. There is ZERO flexibility & work-life balance. The "upper management" (a.k.a. original Takeda employees) located out in Chicago believe their way of doing things is the right/only way of doing things, and are unwilling to listen to or consider any other ideas or suggestions. The merger was completely disorganized and chaotic. After 2+ years of transitioning, processes, policies, and core-roles & responsibilities are still unclear and inconsistent.

Serious Issues. Very Disappointed

Pros

Not many. Nothing unique compared to other companies. Seriously lacking in benefits in multiple areas. Losing talent as more people leave

Cons

If you ever get a weird sinking feeling that something is wrong when you are talking to HR or the hiring manager while interviewing for this company, you should trust your instincts. At the core, this company is rotten. People just resign to the fact that HR and IT don’t respond or perform basic responsibilities and it’s accepted as ‘Takeda culture’. Incompetent leadership where you will be gaslighted and blackballed for even mentioning any issues or suggesting any improvements. Incompetent micro-managers are tolerated (HR doesn't do a thing) and managers have their own agendas and want a sea of yes men. Professional individuals will be pushed out with bad falsified reviews, poor performance and bullied. There are many directors and above that I have no idea what they actually do, and the company would fare better if there wasn’t so many middle micro managers. No support or advocacy. No growth opportunities. Speak up and diversity and inclusion are just smokescreens. Incredibly toxic environment. My biggest regret is coming to this company in the first place and staying so long.
