Pros

Starts out like the perfect job. Then reality shows up. Product is great and very focused on key objectives. Training is great and San Diego office is amazing.

Cons

Sales management is totally unaligned with new employees. Inner circle will not allow anyone else to join and fosters an environment that is totally hostile. The tenure employees forget what it is like not to know an answer. They have a totally crazy way they make you expense entertainment and typically don't pay much of your expenses one incurred for business.

Pros

Good product. Flex hour. Good for older employees. But recently have seen 2 early retirement push to get rid of old employees.

Cons

For the software engineering division, Teradata Labs, management thinks very lowly of you if you are not on the top 10 percent of people they have to keep. Their mind is stuck in the last century. Does not reward people for creativity, but very quick at punishing if you commit slightest mistakes. Pay is 20-30% below industry. Merit increase is 1.5% a year.

Pros

The worker bees! I was a manager there and it had some of the most loyal, dedicated employees. Also, some of the people I met in different groups and orgs who's actually cared about their employees, where some of the hardest and smarted people I have had the pleasure to work with.

Cons

I have been in the industry since 1997 and have worked for some of the biggest companies out. Every company has it's pockets of bad management but Teradata R&D facility in SD some of the worst management ever!!!! The problem is it runs deep from the CIO to the first line management! And if you don't adopt their harassing fear management style, then you singled out! As a manager, they purposely picked out people and ran them out, they worked nonexempt employees overtime without pay and told him if he reports more time, he is slow and would always threaten him with being replaced, told an employee when he returned who was out on sick leave with cancer, that his job was at risk unless he produced more, told another employee he couldn't use his vacation time to assist his wife with cancer, hired a contractor who worked his butt off for a yr and went he needed 3 months to finish his degree because his counselor missed a class he needed, they fired him and banned him from working there... I can go on and on about the terrible treatment of their employees at the bottom but I think you get the picture. As long as their HR sits back and supports this behavior they will continue to run this Oligarchy unless someone sues!!!!
