Challenging, not in the good way

Pros

Unlimited vacation, coffee, soda, gym on site, nice facility in RB. Alot of the people there are really smart and dedicated. Alot of the product technology is pretty great. I love this company even if they make it hard.

Cons

Constant shifting of priorities, management structure and initiatives. The sales and consulting teams are always changing so you never know who is who and what they're supposed to be doing. The policies and processes are mostly tribal knowledge and if you don't know it people will ignore you. The internal tools are as old and clunky as the processes. We call ourselves "agile" but that's not the truth. There's bad top-down leadership and organization which turns groups into silos which distrust each other. Nobody wants to make decisions because they worry if they mess up they will be held accountable. Regular layoffs and the lack of stability scare people into defending their job rather than stretching and risking to accomplish more. Certain pet projects get all the resources even if they haven't shown real success in years and have been redefined a bunch of times.

Pros

Interesting work Flexible schedule Some very smart coworkers

Cons

Unwelcoming, sexist manager who had been with the company for years. I was hired along with a male employee to a team of nearly 15 where there was one other female on the team. My manager made it clear from the beginning that it wasn't his idea to hire me. He asked me if I was "getting it", in a demeaning, aggressive tone in front of the group at one of the first team meetings. He would pass by my cubicle, glaring into it making sure I was there every day. He made a comment to a coworker that my code should be checked carefully, making sure that I could hear him. He initiated applause when the male employee fixed his first DR, while barely acknowledging when I fixed mine ahead of schedule. His attitude changed a bit once I showed that I could do the job, but by then several in the group were following his example and my time there remained miserable and the environment exclusive and hostile.
