Self-centered executives, below average pay, complicated comp plan, lack of career development & no employee appreciation
Pros
Flexible hours, good product, balanced family life, industry go-to-market strategy with proper support in that area, can be mediocre and still have long career, never fires anyone for bad results, tenured employees and many SMEs for support.
Cons
Management and executives lack vision and intelligence in this space as it grows with new technologies like Hadoop. Has had a good EDW and appliance platform but lacks vision to compete as the industry changes. Still run by an old boy's network of NCR dinosaurs, especially the Americas and CXO levels. Does not pay well and has VERY complicated compensation structure. Still has old boy's network mentality of NCR, lacking promotion of women, and ability to think outside of the box. Very siloed organization, no collaboration and new hires are left to fend for themselves without proper support due to lack of offices and comradery. Directors are hindered in hiring quality people because of lack of ability to pay. The HR department for the US is deplorable and only serves executives without any dedication to the normal employee well being. Area VPs and below do not receive any support from HR when trying to get raises or hire talented people. Does not foster development of its people, struggles with keeping up with more nimble and younger companies and has high turnover due to lack of development and old NCR mentality. Teradata does not reward its good employees and has no qualms about giving its executives plenty of bonuses, perks and raises even with poor achievement.
