      Great work, good management

      Pros

      i) Mature codebase(DB) and the opportunity to work on database internals. ii) Technical and apolitical environment, easy to change teams. iii) Infinite scope to develop system(optimizer, compiler etc) engineering skill. iv) Encourage research and publications.

      Cons

      i) Company is moving away from core database development, making it harder to enjoy work. ii) An increasing number of middle-level managers opened door to incompetence. New managers are not up to par. iii) New features are not doing enough justice to the great product. Once a RnD is adapting service-based practices. iv) Higher management is filled with lesser technical (more business) people.

      weak product management weak product vision leadership talks about change but it never really happens turnover people who think different get micromanaged belt tightening
