Pros

I started working here in early 2018. There are some real smart people who have deep expertise. I have made good connections with my peers and some business leaders who are genuine and want to help you succeed. Lots of flexibility in work arrangements and good work life balance. There’s a push for more contemporary business practices but it’s not sticky.

Cons

Promotions are often not earned by merit even in HR. Everyone is scared to lose their job which brings out bad behavior which leads to a toxic work environment. Most of my peers are demotivated and either have left for a growing company or biding time. Technology is the best in class but we keep losing deals to competitors. Good employees continue to leave the company and we can’t seem to hire fast enough. We have expanded and remodeled our SD campus but it’s starting to look empty and lack energy. Layoffs are a part of life. No trust in HR who are experts at doing layoffs and nothing else.

Pros

According to Gartner, leader in Analytics

Cons

LATE to adapt an economic model that is consistent with similar technologies. Naive to think that implementing a customer facing “outcome based” approach, will magically allow customers to see the value of analytics. Managing sales with a one size fits all approach, is unproductive and will only foster a false pipeline, that will be unrealistic and will ultimately fail to deliver ARR.

Pros

Tetadata is HQ in beautiful San Diego. They take good care of the lawn.

Cons

Teradata is extremely hierarchical. C-level individuals micro-manage their teams. Working remotely is not acceptable. Unlimited PTO but not encouraged to take more than three weeks. Paternity leave is only two weeks. Salaries are meh for San Diego, but not competitive in the tech industry. Engineering driven. The Teradata way overrules industry best practices.

Hi. We’re sorry your experience hasn’t been a positive one. Remote work is common at Teradata, we encourage you to talk to your manager about the possibility of working remotely if it better suits your needs. While there’s a strong emphasis on product development and engineering, Teradata is driven by all employees in every department. We are currently working on a variety of diversity and inclusion initiatives. In fact, we now have a team dedicated entirely to diversity and inclusion! We take your feedback and comments seriously, thank you for your thoughts.
