Pros

Everyone good is leaving or have left already. Good for them!

Cons

Since the pandemic this company has not compensated it's employees fairly. There was a pay freeze while tech pay soared to the highest ever. Then there has been subsequent pay freezes and minimal pay increases that are below inflation. There are seniors getting paid at Consultant levels and leads getting paid at senior level. To add insult to injury they publish salary bands for each grade and there are folks getting paid significantly UNDER their salary bands. They said it was for transparency reasons only, it doesn't mean they will make it right and pay you in your salary band. Getting a promotion doesn't guarantee a raise. Yes, you will get the title and the responsibility but not the pay. It isn't temporary either. This has been going on for the last 3-4 years. It is also not an isolated incident. Yet the company is asking more and more from us.

Pros

- my compensation is good

Cons

- constantly reinventing process in a way that will almost certainly be worse than what we were doing before - very few opportunities to actually lead teams, although everybody in leadership does their best to pretend that's not the case. Engagements are usually just "staff augmentation" where all we're doing is adding extra bodies - leadership seems to be trying to centralize process/decision making, which is the opposite of what makes large tech companies function well - quality of people seems like it's decreased - company culture has become non-existent - give anybody in leadership negative feedback, and they seem annoyed to be talking about it

Pros

Great people, who are genuinely intelligent and excellent in their respective fields. OK compensation Nice office with plenty of freebies

Cons

Company has done MORE layoffs once again. This was a warning to me before I joined but I ignored it, they've now gone and done another round, and seem to be hiring once again. Don't take the risk on your career - pick somewhere that is more stable. There are better options in Australia.

Thank you for providing this very thoughtful feedback. We confirm that we have made a number of Thoughtworkers redundant in Australia. We strive to make Thoughtworks equitable, reflective and inclusive of the society in which we live, however, these changes were necessary to support the future growth of our business. We did not make this decision lightly and regret that we had to say goodbye to some talented and passionate Thoughtworkers.
