Pros

Working for UPS part-time does have some good benefits. You have to put in at least nine months and join the Union (Teamsters) In order to get paid medical benefits for you and your entire family. I believe the cut off age is 26 for children. You don’t even have to pay a portion of the premiums for the insurance. They also offer tuition reimbursement at bachelor and graduate levels. I believe that tuition reimbursement is available beginning day one. I have not before or since my employment heard of another company that offers such great benefits. Another pro is that it is active work physically and chances are your physical could improve. Another kind of “sometimes“ pro is that any day of the week that you work over five hours the time pass that five hours is overtime. Along the same lines if you work six days in a week, which everyone does during peak season the sixth day will be all overtime. You definitely make the most money you will make during the last three months of the calendar year. Another really big pro is that when you’re done for the day you’re done for the day and you leave it there.

Cons

The downside to working at UPS is well there are several factors to consider. They include whatever the weather is like outside. It will be similar inside. The is no air conditioning or heat. They only give us a 10 minute break every three hours. It is hard, strenuous, physically demanding work. You would need to wear breathable clothing that you don’t care about in terms of it getting stained or dirty because it will get stained and dirty and you won’t be able to get the stains out. Another con To be aware of is the relationship between UPS and the Teamsters union. You very much have to advocate for yourself and for each other and you need to know the contents of the contract and how it impacts the job you do for UPS. UPS is not going to tell you if the contract supports you in ways that you’re not taking advantage of; they leave it up to you to know the contract and hold them accountable.
