Pros

UPS pays pretty well and offers plenty of opportunities for advancement and raises. Working at UPS gives you a chance to see what you are made of, because you will have to work hard and you will want to quit often.

Cons

The work is grueling and most of the management is under high levels of stress to increase profits. The stress levels in the management get passed down to everyone else. There is very little spoken positive reinforcement and most meetings consisted of discouraging language about the need for improvement.

Pros

The company places high value on seniority.. This is a "Pro" for anyone that is OK with being treated like crap for their 1st few years. There's a lot of good hard working people there, but they had to survive the company's meager wages to get to liveable wages... just like you will as a new employee

Cons

1 - False Advertising & False Promises - They may "hire" you on paper with a specific pay rate, but this does not mean that you'll be working. In fact, you might just work one day a week for a few hours. 2 - Flat Union Dues - Referring back to the one day a week work week, you may have some very small pay checks. The low pay and hours combined with flat union dues means that you are basically working for free unless you work more than a few days each week. 3 - Disorganization - Expect problems in their administrative practices such as paychecks. 4 - Unfair Expectations - The company expects you to maintain availability even if they rarely have work for you. You have to plan your day just like your going to work, but you will end up sitting at home. Yeah, so don't even think about that 2nd job to help support yourself... UPS might need you that night!!
