Pros

Paid discrectionary days off and vacation time. Health benefits were great when times were good; they were still good when economy tanked. It was a secure job durring tough tech times. Supervisors were fair.

Cons

zero opprotunities for IT promotion. Only opprotunities in operations which is a horrible life.

Pros

good benefits If you don't feel like showing up for work you don't have to and no one will care

Cons

The work environment is dirty and has no climate control. During the winter some parts of the warehouse have employees working outside, while others work inside. When it rains, most of the time you're going to get wet. Since the Union took over, it has become a race of "whoever does the least work for the longest time gets the promotion" Communication between management and employees is terrible, employees are constantly confused about the policies to get things done. Gossiping is a huge problem, along with the single goal of management, which is to get everything done as fast as possible and yell at everyone that doesn't complete your work 45 minutes early everyday. Those who are lazy receive the easier jobs with less work, and those that work hard are punished by being put in the areas/trucks with highest volume of packages. The only reward that diligent workers receive is that management will not trash talk about you behind your back, you won't receive a promotion and you won't be given more hours to work because you work hard. After 3 years and 9 months of seniority at UPS, I only received 40 hours of vacation time and 1 sick day. If you would like time off and you've been with the company more than 3 months, then management will require 2 to 3 months prior notice. If you just started with the company only 12 hours notice is required for a day off.
