Pros

Upward mobility, service to country, education benefits, health benefits, challenging environment, top notch people. I have nothing but good things to say about the USAF.

Cons

The military is a little bit like communism in the fact that everyone gets promoted / advanced / paid the same regardless of how hard you work. A lot of times a couple people pull the weight of everyone else. You will find that in any orginization, however promotions in the military tend to be based on time in service rather than performance.

Pros

Fantastic, challenging job requiring a very high level of commitment and training. Pay is lower that other possible careers but the exclusive access to the world's best technology and training makes up for it. You have to opportunity to live around the world, you WILL travel around the world, and, to quote the song, "Chicks dig it".

Cons

Long hours, difficult to get it, training programs that weed out a lot of candidates. You will routinely be separated from family & friends and be stationed in remote locations. Potential death or severe injury is part of the risk.
