Pros

The Air Force has been great since it paid for all of my college. In addition, I got my first choice for a base and I have a great job that has paid me to travel to all 7 continents. The pay and benefits are also great for this area since this is an expensive area to live.

Cons

As a military member, you must go and do what the Air Force wants you to do. Sometimes, you have to accept a job that you are not crazy about. I overall like my job and the travel experiences are unforgettable, but some of the day to day things dont interest me.

Pros

Great to work with people that in general are not there because they are motivated by money. The opportunities to change jobs, get new experiences, and grow professionally are great.

Cons

The deployment tempo for certain career fields makes balancing family life difficult. In my current career field it is a 1:2 dwell (home for one year, gone for six months). It does not sound bad until you add in home station job, travel, additional training requirements, etc. Great opportunities to see the world -- but not the greatest locations.

Serving your country is always a good thing. Colleagues are all very goal oriented the organization has a very strong and a very efficient motto

Cons

Duty hours can get really busy depending on what AFSC you have You are dealing with a wide range of personality that are usually influenced by the high stress environment
