Pros

- Service to our country - Unique career that crafts lifelong memories, good and bad but something to talk about - Job security, decent pay, training - Travel/live abroad opportunities

Cons

- Repeated extended deployments (6+ months within 10 months of each other) good for career but sacrifice family relationships - Ultimately had to choose between family and AF (AF lost) - Risk of injury (physical and mental trauma) and/or death

Pros

The Air Force is a great place to work. I got a lot of job satisfaction, I was treated fairly, and the organization recognized I had a family and allowed time for them.

Cons

Time spent away form your family while on deployment. However, this is a necessary as this is what the military is designed to do.

Pros

- Outstanding, consistent professional development of officers - Leadership is competent and caring - 30 days leave can't be beat - Tuition assistant...now for dependents!

Cons

- Work hours should be mission-based, not just 12-15 hr days or til burn out - What happened to 3-4 month deployments? How many kids births/birthdays do we have to miss til we break &/or have our wives leave us? - Computer-based training is not real training...most just check the block as fast as they can - Checking the pulse of subordinates under the leader that you supervise should be mandatory. This keeps leaders/commanders in-check...i.e. there are some commanders in geographically separated units who spend most of their time trying to please their boss vs. taking c/o their troops - PT: give back accountabiltiy for fitness back to the individual Airman
