Pros

The retirement plan and the benefits. Also, there are lots of opportunities to travel. Health care is free, prescriptions are free, college tuition is paid for, and they'll pay additional money to you for housing and food allowances.

Cons

You become government property for the duration of your enlistment. Senior leadership becomes quickly detached from the lower working class. Pay is okay, but lots of people can make more on the outside. Then there's the whole "war" thing. You're kinda expected to go off to war, and they don't always tell you when you're coming back.

Pros

Pay is very competitve with other civilian jobs, especially when benefits are added to the equation. Another added bonus, is seeing the world. I have no idea what other company will pay you to move to Germany and give you enough time off to actually see Europe. I have been able to see many countries and have been exposed to many cultures. This has made me a better person and allowed me to have a versatile resume.

Cons

The promotion process is probably the worst of all branches of service. I have talked to Marines and Navy and found that there promotion process is better and more rewarding. I was in the Army and still believe there promotion system is the best, although they do have problems thereselves, but it is better.

Pros

Traveling, Meeting New people. Free Health care Free dental. 30 days vacation per year. Free schooling. If you can manage going to school while your working long hours on the job... Serving your country. MGI BILL for when you get out.

Cons

You have to give up your freedom in order to serve your country. This comes in the form of deployments,Mandatory Moves every few years,Can never quit and walk away if and when you realize the AF isnt for you,Doing jobs you want nothing to do with,SALARY is a joke, Enlisted Pay vs Officer Pay is a slap in the face to every enlisted person who has ever served, The Goverment OWNS you and your way of life no matter what, Either Play the game and kiss ass or just do your job extemely well but get labeled as "that guy who doesnt play the game" If your Female expect all doors open to you as opposed to being a Male and having no way to move or change jobs/offices etc Be a " YES" man/women or face the consequences. Mandatory Meetings never end. 10000000 wastes hrs to educate everyone on drinking and driving, sexual assualts/harrasement,Safety,the list never ends. Get treated as if your a little kid in middle school 24/7
