Pros

The military in general provides a lot of great benefits including paid holidays, extra days off in conjunction with holidays (sometimes) for 'family days'. The health benefits are incredible and the pay is based on your rank which could be a pro or con depending on what your specialty is.

Cons

Once you're in, you can't just quit. So if you get stuck on night shift all the time, you just have to deal with it. That, combined with business trips and deployments, can mean spending a lot of time away from your family.
