Strangers might shoot at you. You will absolutely get screwed over by leadership at some point. When you become a leader, you'll still get screwed over by leadership, with the added bonus of taking all the heat for your soldier's screw ups. Strangers might shoot at you. You'll spend an inordinate amount of time doing nothing while you wait for someone higher up to either make or enforce a decision. Your injuries don't matter in the infantry. You'll be forced to pay for non-issued equipment for arbitrary packing lists, and when you mention to your leadership the exorbitant costs of said materials, they'll hand you a weak excuse. "The good ones get out," is a common phrase.
