Pros

Great benefits and comraderie is unmatched. Anyone is capable of advancement in the Army. Army doctrine is very good, and serves as a great foundation for leadership and managerial principles.

Cons

Because anyone can advance in the Army, there are a lot of undeserving people in important roles, like commander. As an officer, your career path is generally determined for you with few exceptions. Officers are also forced to constantly change positions and roles, which limits organizational predictability. You will rarely stay in one location for longer than 3 years.
