Pros

Diverse and challenging work for an oustanding organization. The type of work performed is typically challenging but always at a fast pace. As an Officer, you will be bestowed with special trust and confidence to lead by example and make the right decision. The screening process is decent at weeding out those that do not do well in demanding and stressful situations - but in the end it is up to the individual to accomplish their mission. A driven and grounded individual is best suited for the gig.

Cons

Mandatory moves every few years with little control over direction of career

Pros

The best reason to work for the US Marine Corps is the leadership skills you will learn on the job. You can see the world and you will have a steady pay check. The life lesons will help you in everything you do thereafter. There is great benifits and if you really need to be put on the right track in life, they will get you there.

Cons

Some of the downsides to working in the Marine Corps is that you do not have controll over much of anything. You don't know untill the last minute where you are going to have to go. It is hard work and not something you want to do unless you reallly know what you are getting into.

Pros

The Marine Corps will develop your leadership and communication skills. The Marine Corps will develope a man physically and mentally in order for him to lead Marines in the most stressful of environments. This training creates a total warrior who focuses his life on how he can become a better Marine. He is indoctrinated in the warriors' life of honor, courage and commitment. This Marine will see the world in peacetime or in today's global war on terror. Written and verbal communication skills are essentail in communicating with superiors and subordinates. The level of responsibility is enormous. The greatest asset a junior officer has is his Marines. He must train them in the severest of situation for them to be effective when it counts.

Cons

You are expected to be ready to go anywhere with a moements notice. As the nation's premier 911 force this a reality. Even though the pay is great the responsibities a junior officer has outweighs the nice pay. Plus a JO is not eligible for bonuses. A E-4 receives 30K for reelistment while a JO gets nothing. No matter how hard you work you don't get promoted faster. Balencing work with a family is by far the most difficult part of the job. 7 months gone 7 months at home training. Within those 7 months at home you'll have to train on two field ops lasting 30 days each. Plus the 10 -12 hour days in garrison. i gues a small price to pay to be the best.
