Pros

Working with some of the best people the world has to offer, traveling the world over and making history are all in a days work. In the current economy the pay and benefits are quite competitive in most career paths.

Cons

Working hours and time away from home are quite demanding and can take a toll on personal relationships and commitments. Finding the time to use your educational benefits is another major challenge. The current "force-shaping" initiatives to trim the Navy budget makes a military career increasingly competitive and challenging in addition to the steep personal commitment required to serve.

Good pay, good training, good leadership experience. Great travel opportunities.

Cons

Over two years at forward-deployed base, spent 75% of that time underway. Stateside, 8 1/2 month deployments interspersed with random underways and long working hours.
