Pros
There is opportunity to advance very quickly, regardless of what others say. Make sure to use your benefits for school while you are in. They will pay for certifications and all sorts of other programs to get you where you need to be. A career is not for everyone, but it is a good stepping stone to another field. Pick your rating/designator carefully, since not all translate well into the civilian sector.
Cons
Deployments to incredibly hot places are the worst. The living conditions are not great, so don't expect much. The hours can be long.
