Instant leadership opportunities in all areas of the Navy. Great responsibility and training. The military will prepare you for success in all areas of life.

Cons

Work is not predictable. Hours are unlimited and remote destinations are most likely in your career path. Dangerous work environment.

Pay (much stronger than expected, benefits really add up) Respect from others after leaving Increases tolerance for pain -- after leaving I will never again complain about lifestyle etc Making it through has made me more willing / able to sacrifice and be disciplined

Cons

Lack of respect shown up and down the officer chain Low quality personnel in all management positions (up to Admiral) Managers generally more concerned with self-promotion than doing a good job Lack of accurate KPIs Personnel are not taken care of or respected across the company Too much emphasis on covering one's behind
