Serving in the U.S. Navy carries tremendous prestige and satisfaction in having done an important job well. The job security is second to none; it takes a criminal act to get fired. Upward career mobility, the chance for increasingly enhanced opportunities, and a generous benefits package are guaranteed. Education is required to advance and the opportunity to get a Masters/MBA degree is included in an officer's career planning. The military is one of the last defined-benefit pension plans left in the country.
