Leadership is failing

Pros

It is a steady job with good pay. It is also doing something that you can believe in, and offers opportunities you cannot find anywhere else (flying jets, driving submarines, etc).

Cons

Leadership has started to lose it's ability to think outside the box and the effect is trickling down and affecting who stays in and who moves into the civilian sector.

Pros

If you align your values with those of the Navy (Honor, Courage, Commitment) and are overtly loyal to your chain of command, you will have a much easier time. It's expected of you. I've worked with many great people and had the opportunity to see the world. Along the way, I grew into the person I wanted to be. It's a great way to spend 20 years.

Cons

Too many meetings. Too much emphasis on computer-based training for skill development. It's cheaper, but not better. NMCI makes doing business difficult most days.
