Pros

Training. They'll train you like crazy and give you a skillset that is uncommon in the civilian world. Clearance helps too.

Cons

After you get over the first 3 years, the military life starts to drag on you. You see contractors doing what you do, making 2x as much, and you start wondering "what am I doing here"

Pros

Benifits Good colleagues Great Friends Travel to cool places Lead amazing sailors

Cons

Always gone Long Hours (A 12 hour day is referred to as a "half day" Careerist bosses No sleep Endless meetings Given the same amount of independence as an infant Given more work with less people and no budget because all the senior "yes men" that don't actually have to produce any results refuse to say no to anything.

Pros

Travel, camaraderie, sea duty where you do meaningful jobs

Cons

If you don't get promoted you get booted out. Don't waste time chasing a retirement check. The system is rigged so only about 5% of people who serve will only get a full retirement
