Pros

Benefits, college, travel, salary, training, experience.

Cons

Good leaders move on to better careers that the Navy set them up for, people who shouldnt be leaders end up there because of time in service. Leadership can have a huge impact on your career progression

Pros

Great stability (difficult to get a civilian position but equally difficult to lose your position aka you have to try really hard to mess up enough to get kicked out). Great benefits. Great opportunity to transfer to other locations if other positions open up. Usually great people all around to be honest. 4 out of 5 people are truly great people, but that 1 bad egg is my Con...

Cons

If you have someone in a position of leadership/power above you, you're at the mercy of them for most of your professional experience. Even as a civilian employee, it's still the military so they hierarchy and chain of command is real. So it's awesome if you got someone on your team, but if it's someone who's been there a hundred years and just soaking in the extra money on top of their retirement pay, then there's no way up.
