Pros

All military branches are a great way to move up in society. Free college and sometimes relevant job experience. It is possible to be stationed or port in some exciting locations. Living amongst your sailor brothers and sisters is a unique life experience.

Cons

You live, work, eat, and sleep on a warship. Your job may have you stuck in an office all day never seeing sunlight or you might be risking your life everyday on the flight deck. Uprooting your life every 3-4 years gets old. The Chief's Mess is a cult. Imagine being in a steel container in the middle east during summer with no AC. You are expected to work just as hard as the sailors who came before you but will discipline you for even the smallest of things so no more playing hard, just working hard. The suicide rates are up for a reason that is debatable but doesn't change the fact they are up.

Pros

I love the Navy, the experience I gained during my service is incomparable. The leave policy is amazing, 30 days per year, and your days don't expire as long as you're under 60 days (the instruction has changed a couple of times). Also, one of my favorite things is everything is in an instruction so you know where your boundaries are at all times and you can't get in trouble for random things.

Cons

Your evaluations and awards are influenced by how liked you are. The intention is to be impartial, but I have never seen an eval or awards board not influenced by how someone feels about that person. If you know how to "play the game" then you'll be great, but if you're more focused on doing your job and taking care of your Sailors then you may struggle.

Pros

You get paid monthly (provided No government shutdowns) Medical/Dental coverage for yourself and Dependents, always room to advanced but may need to switch rates (jobs) if you want faster advancements. Leadership Can help you Level up. Take advantage of all opportunities available while in. Let no one tell you No you can’t, take it up the chain.

Cons

Family is on back burner. You get hurt you need to recover quickly. Mental Health issues along with Sexual harassment’s “More Than Likely” no matter orientation. Leadership don’t step on toes. Keep a Copy of EVERYTHING, everything! Medial issues frowned upon but remember They won’t be there for you once your out and most Veterans are struggling with Medical issue due to No Documentation..
