Pros

- Great pay as an entry level job with no prior education - Good way to go to school or get certs before joining civilian workforce - Great teacher of discipline and becoming an employed robot - "Travel the world" (maybe) - Tricare/BAH - Good benefits after serving

Cons

- 20+ years for a tiny pension (you'll have to get another job afterwards) - Barely any control over your schedule - On call 24/7 - Deployments - The "maybe" part of traveling the world - Minimal pay, a fraction of what most rates can make in civilian sector - 90% of leadership being terrible - Toxic environment - 80%+ of your job will entail cleaning

Pros

Former sailor of almost 9 years. Honestly, Its different from the cooperate world. Getting fired is nearly impossible. If you're married they will pay you extra and automatically give housing allowance. It's a great way to learn many different things that is not your job. All in all. In my personal experience, no matter what the situation was. It was a non-regrettable one at that. To serve was an honor. You don't do it to impress others. You do it to better yourself, hone your discipline and better your country.

Cons

Sea duty, you are always away from home, underway, or on deployments. So thats normal. also, you signed up to serve your country. Not get married at the age of 18 once you enter the service. Go do that somewhere else please.
