Pros

Some interesting products (and a good cause!). Some interesting problems to solve! NAVAIR ESDP program allows you to move around and try different tasking.

Cons

Some old legacy maintenance . Overworked staff once you settle on a project. General feeling of complacency. Not being recognized for good work. Harder and good work is not rewarded. You basically get the same pay increases as someone who does mediocre work. Pay scale is bad: Every other business will pay you more and advance you faster (DP pay program is actually worse than GS).

Wide range of engineering challenges across multiple disciplines. Latest technology incorporated into all mechanical, electrical, plumbing and HVAC renovations and new installations.

Cons

Incorporating industrial control systems across a government owned infrastructure is difficult. Lack of understanding of the concept and support for the solution is limited.
