Pros

vast array of locations worldwide

Cons

actual motivation of individuals to make a difference seems to dwindle the longer people are employed. Major motivation for employment becomes based on salary and benefits rather than intrinsic motivation.

Pros

Great way to get a slice of the world

Cons

Constant budget cutting after the financial crisis, pathetic HR policies, lost an amazing person due to bad management...completely dysfunctional in many ways, but the only place for real global dialogue

Pros

The UN has amazing benefits: paid vacation, great health insurance. Flexibility and telecommuting are also starting to be put in practice. The UN encourages staff to keep learning (languages, skills) and makes it easy and many times free.

Cons

Some offices are really understaffed so there can be long hours (without paid overtime). It is very difficult for General Services staff to move up the ladder.
