Pros

Working for the UN offers some of the most compelling work iminigable. It also offers the opportunity to work in many place across the world with people from all over the world.

Cons

It seems that it would be a dream job; however the banalities of such a large organisation, and the sluggish pace at which decisions are implemented make the work frustratng. Added to that, the organisation has no means for career advancement or career planning. It seems all too often to case that good connections, and not good work performance, are what advance people in their UN careers.
