Taking credit for the work of others is encouraged and is the only way to progress your career. EMC influence is most definitely a negative influence and is getting worse. Forget the prospect of any decent career opportunities if you reside anywhere other than the US or aren't willing to relocate to the US.

Many customers are disappointed with high cost and strict license agreements. Much of the business is dependant on partners which seem to have trouble find low hanging fruits since the market for core product is saturated and getting new product lines into customer are a challenge. Internal tools are very dispersed which makes it difficult to productive.
