Pros

Great people, innovative company, great benefits. VMware truly understands the life/work relationship and encourages its employees to excel in many aspects of life.

Cons

VMware runs thin on resources, which means opportunity is great, but challenging when trying to be a trusted advisor to the customer base. Also, although they say they like to offer opportunities within, I have seen many people passed over for outside candidates.

Pros

- driven employees - direct, transparent, consistent leadership (prior to Dell, can't comment post Dell) - beautiful environmentally-conscious campus - very family-oriented and pet-friendly

Cons

- switching groups was challenging, it was easier to leave than to move internally - didn't kill losing products quick enough - kept using "startup" in self-references, like 'working with a startup inside of a large company'. Stop that... you're a large company... there might be more dynamic or newer divisions due to acquisitions... but you're not a startup or collection thereof.
