Pros

The people (minus management) are great. The people they hire are extremely talented, but often taken for granted.

Cons

I've been in the workforce for 15 years and this is BY FAR the worst company I have ever worked for. Management and upper-management does not care about their employees. You will often be thrown under the bus by your boss. Work-life balance does not exist because you are on call 24/7. Giving it your all is not enough and never appreciated. PTO is bad, no sick days, and insurance benefits are expensive.

Pros

after 8+ years of working with VMware-Bangalore, I have nothing more to say apart from: ----You get a good sneek peek of future technology at VMware. btw, this is the only reason some of the very talented engineers are working with VMware-Bangalore.

Cons

1. Full of politics. Almost all of management is full of lobbyists. 2. Complete recruitment system is flawed. Examples: --You can see relatives getting in so easily with mere skills & credentials. Brothers, cousins, spouses all in. --No-one even care about the interview feedback; forget that, they done even care if the interview feedback is not even submitted. All of interview process is just for showoff..decisions are based on completely different parameters. if you do not have a 'godfather' , dont even consider applying for a job here. 3. Major lax in transparency. Management in HQ do not have visibility of ground reality in remote sites. 4. In-competent managers in QA. Zero technical skills. You need to be very careful because a little intelligence can make them very insecure. I do not want to name people, but you yes you get the idea.

Pros

I learned a TON while at VMware and worked with some of the smartest people I've ever met. There are opportunities to grow your career.

Cons

VMware is a multi-billion $$ company that somehow, somehow can't afford to pay their workers. I busted my butt working for this company, and advanced to management in a few years. I was promised raises and bonuses that never materialized. I ended up leaving for the same position with another firm for a 50% increase in pay. Years later I applied, was told my needed salary was well within the pay range for the role, only to be told that my minimum was "too much". It's disgusting how little they pay their most talented employees and turnover is always a problem. Don't expect to be valued working for VMware, no matter how hard you work!
