Pros

Decent compensation, Bonus, Good work life balance. Startup-like work and lot of opportunities to learn, surrounded by deeply knowledgeable co-workers

Cons

No/very less hikes. Lot of Randomization at work, no focussed priorities for individual developers, no mentor programs for budding software engineers. Absolutely no care for the career growth and personal development of the employees. Lacks team morale and enthusiastic work environment

Pros

Good freedom to get your job done and overall decent benefits compared to industry averages (though as VMware grows benefits continue to get chiseled away). Pay on par with industry average.

Cons

VERY long hours, all meetings and calls "critical" and no vacation policy (in U.S. at least). Vacation at VMware means you can be a bit more selective about which calls you join while you're away.....

Wrong people get rewarded for salary increases Also, too much internal politics, and VMware does not listen to their customers about keeping things simple. Salaries poor compared to other upcoming technology companies.
