Pros

VMware has relatively good benefits, higher than average pay, a liberal vacation policy, and is full of smart people.

Cons

VMware has a weak office culture [in the field] because it only has offices in a handful of cities. Customer meetings are often the only time you have an opportunity to see your colleagues.

Pros

VMware has a fabulous set of perqs and benefits, as well as the most beautiful campus around. If you are motivated, there is a lot of opportunity to do interesting work. You can find groups and communities that still have that small company feel.

Cons

If you're in the wrong group, or have the wrong manager, it's no better than anywhere else. It's now definitely a big company, if you don't mind that, its not a problem.
