Good starting pay and benefits Great people (piers) Nice campus Global interaction VMware has had some changes and is not the same company but the technology is fantastic

Cons

VMware has had some changes and is not the same company No work life balance No advancement seriously you cannot move between groups without permission from your current manager, you cannot advance up word in other groups the move must be lateral, these are policy. Top Heavy and balloted – Inverted Pyramid theory from Business 101 Employees are expected to get it done at any personal cost. Mid management is afraid to push back on dates even if this means product delivery dates due to a bug fest. The tail wages the dog (Marketing being the tail)

Pros

VMware is a leader in one of the most promising domains in the enterprise space. It has one of the best brands around.

Cons

The engineering managers are very bad at planning. Most products, other than the flagship ones, do not have a plan. With acquisitions happening all the time, there is tremendous pressure on all the teams to prove themselves. This translated in to very bad work life balance for the team members executing. The compensation does not match the efforts put in, and that does not help in any way.

1. Awesome technology, the best large system software company 2. Great brains to work with 3. Great open enviroment, cubes, glass walled rooms etc... 4. Great break room with loads of good free snacks and breakfast

Cons

1. Transitioning to a larger company, normal in the industry but makes people feel bad.. 2. Has kind of become laid back after growing in size, needs to be more aggressive.
