Pros

Working with cutting edge technology, on the fore front of virtualisation efforts, great and large projects for customers, all make it worthwhile to work for VMware. Even in this economic climate we can travel to all parts of EMEA for projects.

Cons

Very little strong leadership. HR treats employees like we should be glad to work for VMware. Very bad resource management. A lot of projects and still people have a low billable utilisation. Too many management layers! Benefits are being cut in certain areas and we're told we're lucky to have a job.

Good engineering working environment without much "management" getting in the way ... Good general support (IT, travel, etc.) that means that you don't have to do your own system administration ...

Cons

Not clear that senior management knows where it is going ... Business leaders are not really leading ...

Decent facility, nice kitchen, nice gym

Cons

On the business side, political structure full of Sun and Inktomi rejects determined to kill this company too with their utter incompetence and lack of vision.
