Tech company, great engs, open communication, above avg renumeration.

Cons

Chaos. The big heads think strategic, know what how and when need to be accomplished. Sr. mgmt often wreck ideas into chaotic implementation.

Pros

Despite its size VMWare is still an engineering-centric company. Even though they have a lion's share of the virtualization market they are not resting on their laurels but committed to promoting R&D. They also have a great work environment: brand new buildings with lots of light in the offices, kitchens stocked with healthy food, organic fruit delivered multiple times a week and a subsidized on-compus fitness center that includes weight machines, a squash court, several basketball courts, aerobic exercise machines and a soccer field. They also have an expansive cafeteria with a sushi bar, Indian food, Mexican food, a grill and much more.

Cons

The only downer so far this year is that the office is shutting down the weeks of Thanksgiving and Christmas and we are required to take vacation.

Good technology, great engineers and first level engineering managers.

Cons

too much politics in the ranks. Politics is promoted rather than quashed. Senior management doesnt get the right information, and are surrounded by people who play the political game. Forget career growth or opportunity to work cross functionally or cross BU.
