Pros

- Smart, talented engineers. - Relatively relaxed pace. - Comfortable - nice offices, snacks, drinks, etc. - Pride in working for VMware.

Cons

The projects are like big machines that are driving themselves and the developers, rather than the other way around. As an engineer, you don't design and develop products, you fix bugs and implement features that are informed by the previous version of the product. The teams don't feel like they're working together to build something, more like they're all scrambling to keep a ship afloat.

Pros

Great products. Good potential. Ripe environment for potential change.

Cons

Nothing you do is ever enough. Don't talk about expectations until you find out you haven't met one. Limited confidentiality. Silo mentality. Very little collaboration. Inexperienced management. Grew too fast to put the right expectations/rewards in place. Culture is chaos right now - a mix of everyone's previous companies. Trying to get someone to make a decision that doesn't get remade 20 times is a joke.

- a chance to work on stuff that have an impact for it-dep around the world - some very bright people to work with - good CEO and CTO

Cons

- very bad product planning. plans shift as the wind blows very hard to see a direction - bad management. say one thing do another - changed upper management 5 times in a 2 years timeframe. - some people is hit very hard by "if not invented here(or by me)...." - bad HR.
