Pros

Many people still view it as a "smart" place to work. The nature of the technology allows the company to become even more popular during difficult economic times. If you can get to know some of the core group of good, smart people there are some good conversations to be had... once you exhaust the discussion of the daily incompetence.

Cons

Overactive growth during the past three years has led to a work force of 6800+, where only 1500 perform net positive work. This growth has also led a a proliferation of middle management based more on justification of increased salary then actual responsibility or performance.

Pros

Cutting edge technologies. In sections of the company, true innovation is going on. Comically lopsided culture where engineering rules and everyone else is stupid.

Cons

Large corporate culture has taken over. The culture of merit still exists among the clued, but there has been a significant lowering of standards over the years. It's now like any other large enterprise software company. The pay is good, but you're no longer changing the world.

Pros

You get to work with some really cool new technology, and some new things that haven't been tried anywhere else before. The people there are some of the smartest that I've met, and their code is a joy to work with. The pay isn't bad either.

Cons

There's a lot of uncertainty there - the hiring freeze hasn't been helping, and with the new management they're trying to push through a lot of changes all at the same time. It's hard to know what they're planning on doing when they stop growing at the same really high rate that they're currently growing at. Additionally, there does seem to be a real lack of planning and consistency all around, which helps to reduce bureaucracy, but also means that they flounder around a lot.
