Pros

Very reasonable about scheduling around your classes if you're in college. Managers give lots of feedback on your performance so you're never left wondering how you're doing.

Cons

No opportunity for career advancement. Some of my co-workers had been working there for over 5 years, knew the store in and out, and yet when an assistant manager left they brought in some one who had never worked at a Walgreens to replace him instead of promoting from within. In order to get full-time benefits you need to work an average of at least 32 hours. My store would purposefully schedule people for 30 hours so they could still be considered just a part-timer and avoid giving benefits. Walgreens is known for being open 24/7, 365 days a year. All employees were required to work two major holidays, without any extra pay. Come on Walgreens, even McDonald's has holiday pay!

Pros

Decent salary for managers but the hours are flexible including overnight hours. The company keeps you busy and the benefits are satisfactory. The best part about this company is the company match for 401k which is 3:1.

Cons

Never take a leave of absence. Even though the policy states, " Walgreens cannot guarantee your same position on your return we will provide you with a similar position". When I tried to come back to work, after my spouse returned from basic training in the National Guard, I was told it does not guarantee me a job... If I'm reading the policy correctly it does guarantee "A" job, but not the one previously held. Am I wrong?
