Pros

good managers, good staff, fair pay, flexible hours. I was in college and promoted very quickly through a management internship to assistant manager. Great pay for being in college!

Cons

No downsides to Walgreens in particular. Just the usual downsides to any retail job, working late, working weekends, crazy customers, a few lazy employees.

Pros

the pay was very good, but since the assistant manager position is being eliminated to save money, i guess that means this is a con... raises were yearly and usually anywhere from .50 to $1.00. profit sharing was a great thing. they (at the time) were putting in $3 for ever $1 you put in.

Cons

upper management had no interest in the welfair of the employees. this went all the way up to corp. i know this because i once caught my store manager adjusting time cards of multiple employess (including myself) and the issue was swept under the rug and those that didnt know were never paid back. i called many "higher ups" to get it straightened out and was not taken seriously. so while walgreens will bend over backwards to accomodate the average customer, they will do nothing to ensure employees are treated with respect. another thing is just because benifits are here today, doesnt mean they will be tomorrow. when i started, assistants were allowed to get up to 4 hours of overtime every week. this was listed as one of the many benifits to taking the job. with our pay rate, that was about $100 a week extra on our paychecks. then they decided one day to take it away with no notice, which was $400 a month paycut...with no warning.
