Pros

You will get a decent payrate and the retirement benefits are off the chart. The job is rarely boring because we do many different things. I have worked for a manager who was good man and really cared about his employees, which is not a comment on Walgreens, but I feel was a commentary on that district.

Cons

Open 24hours a day, 7 days a week and 52 weeks a years. WE NEVER CLOSE and never run a "skeleton crew", so be prepared for that. Almost impossible to get promoted through the stores anymore, as store managers usually have to retire to create an opening and the growth has stopped for a while.Trust me, you don't wanna get stuck as an EXA either, they are the managers whipping boys. Pardon the term, but communication sucks. I had to inquire why I didn't get a raise at my specified time, and after my store manager contacted the District manager I was told that the policy had change about 4 months prior. Personally that was a big slap in the face, not that it changed but that my DM didn't think enough of me to relay that info to my store manager for me to find out ahead of time and plan for. That is just the best example. And apparently in my new district manager aren't talked to about how they treat those they rely on to run there store. My store manager offends me with a comment at least 2x per week and I am not a sensitive person by any means.

Pros

For the work I was doing, I was compensated well. I also really enjoyed the fact that everyone kind of worked together to get the jobs done.

Cons

The work became boring after a while because it's the same thing each day. The other employees were always nice though.

Pros

As long as you do a good job you will be acknowledged. There is room to move up if you show the initiative.

Cons

Must deal with all types of customers. Must choose a major winter holiday on which to work, however there is a holiday pay rate.
